The Story

Located on the high arid plateau of Cerrado Mineiro in the town of Campos Altos, Minas Gerais Fazenda Esperarnça has produced coffee since the 1860's. The dry weather, high elevation and ample groundwater create unique growing and processing conditions. At their best, coffees from Cerrado Mineiro are full of body and sweetness with very low acidity, prominent notes of chocolate and a mineralic nuance.

Fazenda Esperarnça has been in the Souza family since 1969. Panther Coffee Joel Pollock first visited the farm in 2004 and has had a long and productive relationship with Bruno. Bruno has worked across many facets of the coffee industry in Brasil; running a coffee academy, roasting, farming, and importing Brasilian specialty coffee to the US and Europe. He is a force of nature with a huge personality and his impact on the farm is evident. Fazenda Esperarnça continues to produce some of the finest coffees the region has to offer.

This lot is composed of the Catuaí and Catucaí varieties of coffee and processed in the natural method. It has a creamy mouthfeel and is intense, sweet and rich with great depth of flavor. We love it's warm round notes of chocolate and dried cherry. Please enjoy Fazenda Esperarnça!
