THE STORY

Kiri is a coffee wet mill, or ‘factory’ as they’re called in Kenya. It is operated by the Ngiriambu Farmers Cooperative Society. 1200 smallholder farmers who are also Co-op members deliver their freshly picked coffee cherries to the wet mill for processing.

Prized Kenyan coffee cultivars SL28 and SL34 compose 99% of the blend and are processed in Kenya’s unique washed method and dried on raised beds. Coffee seeds have significantly more contact time with fruit mucilage during Kenyan processing. This results in a heavier mouthfeel and more intense flavors and sweetness. They also undergo multiple fermentations and rinses giving the coffee its clean and sparkling qualities.

Kiri is a classic Kenyan coffee. It is bright, complex, intense and balanced. We especially love the distinct and surprisingly complementary notes of black currant and grapefruit as well as the sugary finish. Please enjoy from the slopes of Mount Kenya, Kiri!
